Heartland Reviews , August 2003

"This is a good little motivational and life purposing workbook. The author covers the importance of writing down the book’s exercises, how to use the mistakes and successes of the past, overcoming obstacles, getting the right kind of help, taking personal responsibility, and encouragement.

This is an excellent tool for people struggling on their own or for attendees at a motivational conference. It is well organized and contains the pertinent items needed to successfully plan one’s life effectively. We rated it four hearts."

“Communications professional and speaker Marjorie Brody has created what she calls a guidebook for realizing your dreams. Brody starts by pointing out that dreams and goals aren’t the same. A dream may be outside the realm of possibility, while a goal is more concrete, something you can take small steps toward. But your dreams will point you in the direction of your goals.

In her book, Brody helps readers identify their dreams and then turn them into goals that can be achieved. She suggests strategies for overcoming obstacles and outlines the importance of assembling a team to support your goals (such as spouse, children, colleagues, etc.)

The book is filled with worksheets and exercises to help ensure your success. By the time you complete your action plan, including dates for small steps on the way to achieving your goal, you’ll be well on your way -- whatever your goal.

Brody relays a particularly poignant story about a couple that finally stopped in the midst of their hectic corporate lives to address how they really wanted to spend the rest of their lives. They immediately began working toward those goals. After creating a plan, they spent a lot less time ‘sighing,’ says Brody.”

Life Without Limits: A Guidebook to Turning Your Dreams Into Reality

As a desert dweller I am conscious of the opportunities on a walk to find a gem in the sand or an unusual bloom on a cactus that brings an “oooh” into everyday life. This workbook is a gem worth noting, worth using, and possibly worth giving to clients during the upcoming holiday season to assist them in turning their dreams into goals and accomplishments.

Marjorie Brody, author of the book, helps individuals and corporations achieve their potential by strengthening their professionalism, persuasiveness, and presence. Leader of Brody Communications Ltd. in Jenkintown, PA, Brody is the author of 16 books, is regularly quoted in the national media, and has made many television appearances.

While most of the concepts in Life Without Limits are familiar, Brody takes what you subconsciously may know and puts it into an easy-to-follow, step-by-step methodology for achievement. She creates a road map for making dreams reality.

Life Without Limits is, as advertised, a true workbook in the sense that it has pages for the reader to follow for each step in the process. The key is that Brody helps readers structure their dreams into goals that have deadlines. Then she walks the reader through lists of potential obstacles and provides ways to brainstorm how to overcome them.

My firm has already used this book in several beneficial ways. We’ve given it as a gift to clients to assist them in defining their goals, and we can foresee giving it to the children of clients when they graduate from college or get married. One copy of Life Without Limits went to a client, age 35, who is beginning a new business venture. One went to a professional, age 50, who is thinking of getting married, as well as possibly taking an early retirement. A third went to a teacher who retired to have and raise children and, while knowing that she made a good decision, is torn about when to go back to teaching as many offers keep coming in. After two weeks these three clients each reported that they were working through the exercises in the book (with results yet to be accounted for).

We also used the book within our company. This summer, our firm had an employee retreat, and a week before the meeting we gave the book to each of our employees. We asked them to review it and look at it in light of their individual goals within the company, as well as potential corporate goals. It made for a very interesting retreat day, and we have had a follow-up meeting to make some business decisions. Everyone felt it was beneficial.
